Club Mob is a group that is run by dancers, to keep the creative talent the centre of everything we do. In February this year we doubled our team with 9 new, shiny humans full of gorgeousness, and this Autumn we took on two more, so we thought it was time to introduce the world to our whole handpicked, tight-knit team of professionals... a bunch of unique, crazy and hardworking fools!
Club Mob is my brainchild and surprisingly, I'm the one who writes all of our blog posts! I've been dancing professionally since my late teens, and after training at the drama school LAMDA, started the company in 2014 after wanting to combine acting, dance, and surprising people!
A strange fact about me is I have Grapheme-color Synesthesia (look it up, it's pretty cool)...and the worst job I've ever had was working in an office for 3 months. Totally boring. Not for me!
Kalene is our newest girl addition to Club Mob, and she blew us away at audition by playing a hilarious seductress. She is Canadian, and whilst she specialises in contemporary dance, she's trained in jazz, hip-hop, ballet and modern as well....and to top it all off, she once won a competition for doing the best YMCA dance whilst roller-skating. Sold.
Ryan M is our newest boy on the team, and since we have a Ryan already, he'll always be known with the M - unless we give him a new name....hmmmm....
Ryan trained at the London Contemporary Dance School, and has an affinity for both contemporary and new school hip-hop dance. He sports a gold tooth, because he once over indulged in sweets and accidentally ripped one of his own out of his mouth - ouch.
The craziest of all is Lyanne. With Club Mob since the beginning, she now manages jobs for the company and often choreographs. An amazing dancer, host, actress and even singer, there isn't much she can't do - but don't let her hear you say that out loud...she's even a qualified personal trainer, and you should see her abs.
Unknown by us when we hired Lyanne and our other manager, Sam, at audition in 2014 - they were best friends living together at the time! Hired from different days, we had no idea until they submitted their address and it was the same. Meant to be.
Sam was also hired right from the beginning, where she blew us away at audition playing a paralytic drunk! She trained at Masters Performing Arts College and has toured China, and worked in Bollywood.
She is now a qualified personal trainer as well as a Club Mob manager... and the worst job she ever had involved working in Bollywood two jobs at once....doing day shoots (7am-7pm) and then straight to night shoots (8pm-6am)....for three days!!! She's pretty hardcore.
The lovely Chris has also been with us since 2014. He trained at Urdang, and his credits include Hairspray, Strictly Come Dancing, and The Brit Awards. Also part of the Rudeye team, he teaches commercial dance to professionals weekly, and regularly choreographs for us. He makes a terrifying Jason at Halloween (video coming out this summer!)
He has a strange obsession with ketchup, and his worst job ever involved shooting a music video in the middle of the forest for 14 hours, in winter, wearing nothing but leopard print material pretending to be tribes people....
Our resident angel, Gemma grew up in Cambridge and trained at Bodywork Company Dance Studios. She was a professional dancer at the closing ceremony of the Olympics and reached the top 16 dancers in the UK TV programme 'So You Think You Can Dance'! She has also worked as a stunt actress in commercials and films.
She used to be a national gymnast and still does some flips in Club Mob routines now and again. She asks more questions on jobs than anyone else we know but we still love her!!
Simeon trained at LIPA, and is also a talented singer as well as amazing dancer - a lucky lady at one gig got a birthday serenade from him! He's currently taking a hiatus from Club Mob as he's full time on the West End for the year, starring in the new Motown musical, as Jermaine Jackson! Go see! He'll be back next year and in the meantime will keep choreographing bits for us here and there...
Natalia has been with us before we even launched, when Club Mob was just an idea in a crazy girl's head. She's danced professionally all around Bollywood and UK, and she never seems to stop or even slow down! A woman of many talents, she's also an incredible close-up magician...and was once Liz Hurley's body double.
With us since 2014, Ryan graduated from Colin's Performing Arts, and has been on TV, stage and film working professionally ever since. He picks up choreography at lightning speed and once played the middle role in our Single Ladies routine, and brought more sass to it than most of the ladies!
A crazy fact about him - he was held up in a robbery when he was working at Waitrose...literally men with crow bars and balaclavas! We're glad he survived it all to dance another day...
Heather has also been with Club Mob since the very beginning. An experienced and amazing freestyler, she is the fastest amongst us at picking up choreography! She's previously danced on X Factor and the Brit Awards, and is a keen gymnast, and as you can see from her pics, a sports model!
She also doubles up as a fire performer - dancing with fire that looks awesome at night-time!
Ben stood out in his recent audition as bringing so much humour to our routines, we just had to bring him in!
He trained at Bodywork, and is now also in contemporary company Chrysalis London, a Bollywood troupe and working on his own production company. In his words: 'Getting money son.'
He once slapped an 11 year old kid in the face for saying he had bad dress sense....please note....he was also 11 at the time. He also (when he was much older) once worked a podium gig in gold hot pants. 'I looked great! I just think I left my dignity there.'
MJ's mad street skills and many hilarious apologies (long story!) won her a place in Club Mob at our auditions in early 2016. From figure skater to academic to event coordinator to coach to dancer, she’s lived all around North America, Australia, and Europe. She's become a manager of Club Mob, and also choreographs loads of our routines!
She can rotate her tongue 360 degrees, and her worst job ever worked was when she was asked to dance at a club outside Vancouver - we won’t go into detail, but she did not end up dancing, she did not end up getting paid, it may have turned out to be a strip club, there may have been a Magic-Mike type experience had, it may have been the farthest quality from the Channing Tatum version possible, and she may have needed to have about 8 showers after being inside that club.
A newcomer to the team, we picked Marvyn for his bubbly personality and clean dancing skills. Marvyn started dancing when he was 16 years old with Urban Strides, with whom he did UK arena tours and performed with artists like Sean Paul and Dizzee Rascal. After graduating from Masters Performing Arts College, he was a Dance Captain on the Thriller Live World tour, and has danced all around the world!
Randomly, Marvyn was also in the Hufflepuff House two of the Harry Potter movies!
Heather trained at LIPA. She is new to our team, and was the star dancer of one of our recent proposals - watch it here! She blew us away with her beautiful contemporary dance skills and work ethic on this job, so we took her on as a regular team member.
She's also a talented fire performer, along with Alex and Heather.
Heather's worst job was when she worked in a fish and chip shop in sixth form. Constantly stinking of fish, fat and grease after work was not for her...despite the bonus of getting free chips!
Along with her dance partner, Fletcher, we recently took on Rhiannon not only for her amazing dance skills but her fierce choreography.
Rhiannon trained at Bodywork in Cambridge, receiving the award for ‘Choreographer of the Year’.She has worked as a dancer for Princess Cruises, and also as a singer/musician as part of the resident band on P&O. She writes songs in her spare time, and also teaches piano!
Also a newbie and we're super excited about his choreography skills, Fletcher has been dancing probably before he could walk! He got all my inspiration from watching artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears. He remembers being 5 years old and standing in front of the TV copying every move from all their music videos.
A strange thing about Fletcher is that he chews his drink....we're not even sure what that means!
Nicky blew us away at audition and got unanimous approval! She trained at London Studio Centre, Broadway Dance Centre in NYC & Movement Lifestyle in L.A. She also sings as well as dancing and acting, and her passion lies in combining stories with movement, also known as Lyrical dance.
One of Nicky's biggest achievements is climbing Kilimanjaro in 2013 to raise money for a school in Burkino Faso. It taught her that life is about the journey rather than the destination.
We're really looking to working with another new addition to our team, Louis, this year. Louis trained at The Urdang Academy (with Chris - keeping it in the family!) & The Brit School. His favourite dance style is house, he loves how many variations one move can have. He's also really interested in photography and film, and his worst job was dancing for an artist with all their band stuff still laid out - he had to constantly dodge a drum kit and keyboard while performing!!
We were praying for Lex to be an amazing dancer at audition, as he'd already won us over with his winning personality - luckily, he was incredible, and it was an easy decision. He trained at Body Work in Cambridge, and whoever said men can't MULTITASK - Lex is a dancer, rollerskater, cyr wheel performer, fire performer, breakdancer, pastry chef, and singer. Phewf. We're really excited to have him bring some of this amazing skills to Club Mob's performances this year. (Apparently also, Nat needs to speak to him about something. Never mind.)
