This and more ACTUALLY HAPPENED. With our new Surprise Someone initiative. Buckle up, as we want to tell you all about it, as well as our most recent, incredible and beautiful surprise.
The ‘Surprise Someone’ initiative sees our Club Mob and The Tailors teams create a series of unique and completely free surprises, for those who need them the most.
Whether someone is facing a tough time, consistently puts others before themselves, or has achieved something remarkable, this initiative is designed to bring a bit of magic into their lives. We create extraordinary moments for extraordinary people.
And for this special surprise, JLS’ very own Aston Merrygold got involved.
Kylie’s mum reached out to nominate her, and after hearing everything she’s been through, we knew she absolutely deserved a surprise of a lifetime.
A bit about Kylie’s story…
In 2020, Kylie made the brave move to the US as a single mum, pregnant with twins. Just before giving birth, she suffered a seizure, which led to the discovery of a brain tumour. Her beautiful babies were delivered, and she was diagnosed with stage 4 GBM. After undergoing surgery to remove the tumour and enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy, she was given the all-clear six months later.
In 2022, she returned to the UK, and for a while, it seemed like she had overcome the worst. But at the start of this year, after being in remission for months, two more tumours were found. Unfortunately, they were too small to operate on, so Kylie has been undergoing new treatments—all whilst caring for her twins.
Adding to the challenge, her mum has had to reduce her work hours to support Kylie and the babies, which has placed financial strain on the family. Now, with two incurable tumours, Kylie is fighting to keep them at bay. She finished a round of intense radiotherapy in July but was rushed to Addenbrooke’s shortly after, showing symptoms of a possible brain bleed and losing feeling on her right side. The scan following her radiotherapy showed that one of the tumours had grown, and she is now on active treatment and will be on it as long as she stays alive.

What we haven’t mentioned yet is that Kylie is absolutely obsessed (in the best way!) with Aston Merrygold. We knew we had to include him in her surprise, so we got to work right away.
On October 18th, Kylie was heading to Aston’s gig at Shepherd’s Bush, which gave us the perfect opportunity. After some coordination with Aston’s management—and with a little help from Kylie’s cousin—we managed to pull off the ultimate surprise: a flash mob set to Aston’s songs, created especially for Kylie.
But the best part? Aston himself made an appearance at the end, presenting Kylie with flowers. It was a truly unforgettable and beautiful moment for everyone involved.
Oh, and did we mention? Kylie was also treated to a stay at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel and Spa, where she enjoyed a luxurious suite, afternoon tea, and a well-deserved spa day.
